Prof. Teresa Coutinho of the TPCP research group in FABI and member of the Department of Microbiology and Plant Pathology, attended the annual Molecular Biology of Plant Pathogens Conference held at the University of the West of England from the 8-9 April 2015.  She was invited to present a plenary lecture on “Plant Pathology in South Africa” which she combined with a discussion on opportunistic plant pathogenic bacteria.  The latter is the topic she is investigating while on sabbatical leave at Stellenbosch University.  The conference was organized by Prof. Dawn Arnold, an internationally recognized phytobacteriologist who specializes on the molecular interactions between Pseudomonas syringae and its numerous hosts.
