We have set up established protocols that enable microchemistry analysis of woody tissues to detect and quantify cell-wall-derived sugars, as well as Klason lignin in wood Arabidopsis thaliana and Populustrichocarpa.  In 2014, we plan to expand our capacity to include S:G monolignol ratio and alpha-cellulose content determination.  This technology is used in functional genetic studies, as well as population-wide analyses for breeding purposes.
