I did my undergraduate and the University of Pretoria in BSc (Agric) Genetics: Plant Breeding and followed on to do an MSc: Genetics titled "Site-directed mutagenesis and functional analysis of Eucalyptus Sucrose synthase (EgSuSy1) in Arabidopsis thaliana. I am now employed in Mondi Forests as a Eucalyptus research scientist since 2009 with a portfolio to research and innovation of breeding tools and strategies for the Tree Improvement Research Programme. At present, I am registered with the University of Pretoria to pursue a PhD study to investigate genomic selection as a marker assisted breeding tool for growth and wood quality traits in Eucalyptus grandis.
