I am a vibrant young scientist who has major interests in applied science and biotechnological ventures outside of the academic field. I am currently under the supervision of Dr Noelani van den Berg in the Fruit tree Biotechnology Programme, housed by the Forestry and Agricultural Biotechnology Institute (FABI).

After having completed a honours and masters at University of Pretoria I have now enrolled for a PhD. I am currently working on the host-pathogen interactions of avocado and Phytophthora cinnamomi. My project deals with defence pathways that are activated in response to the pathogen. In order to address the question we have decided to sequence the defence transcriptome and create a microarray to conduct global gene expression analysis of avocado roots after infection.
