The workshop, as always, attracted many new and experienced scientists eager to learn how to use phylogenetics as a tool in their respective research fields. Over the four-day period, students and principle investigators learned how to transform their data (nucleotide, amino acid, morphological characters, etc.) into phylogenetic trees, where they could assess relationships as similar or dissimilar. Dr Jane Wright led the workshop with the help of Chrizelle Beukes and Darryl Herron . At the end of the week, 24 participants left with a certificate and a better understanding of phylogenetics. A second phylogenetics workshop will be presented from 7-11 November 2016. More details are available here .
