I completed my honours degree in Entomology. I am currently enrolled for a Masters degree in Entomology. My research is on species richness and the drivers of infestations of soil insect pests, specifically whitegrubs, associated with forest plantation trees. my research includes morphological and molecular identification of whitegrubs. I am under the supervision of Prof. Brett Hurley and Dr. Mesfin Gossa. This project is a collaboration between FABI and the ICFR (Institute for Commercial Forestry Research). I will be spending most of my time at the ICFR which is based at the UKZN Pietermaritzburg campus, and spending some time at FABI as well. At the ICFR I am under the supervision of Dr. Benice Sivparsad and Dr. Illaria Germishuizen.
