FABI celebrated love on Valentine’s Day with a fun photo competition and movie night where FABIans could enjoy watching some romantic movies and were encouraged to dress in white, red and pink. The “We/I LoVe …” competition encouraged FABIans to submit photos or illustrations depicting what they love about their surroundings, research or science. The entries were shown at the Monday Morning Meeting on 14 February and the winner was selected based on the results of an online poll by the meeting participants. Ginna Granados’ “Rust love” photo showing a heart-shaped Austropuccinia psidii rust growing on Eugenia capensis taken in Richards Bay, KZN won the first prize of a box of heart-shaped cookies. Those attending the movie night were treated to snacks, popcorn and drinks to enjoy while watching a selection of romantic comedies.
