Photographic competition won by FABI student 2014-10-20
Over the past thirteen years the University of Pretoria Archives has been offering photographic workshops and a competition to the staff and students of the University of Pretoria. Since 2009 Vega (the former National School of Photography) has come on board and provides one of their lecturers to present the courses. Not only does this give the participants the opportunity to improve their photographic skills but also to enrich the UP Archives photographic collection. The workshop consisted of five hands-on sessions throughout the year.
We are proud to announce that Angelique du Preez, one of our FABI students, participated in this photographic workshop and won the compact camera division. The University of Pretoria Archives (UPA) held an award ceremony to celebrate the best UP student photographers and their photographic achievements. On the photo (top) Angelique receives her prize from Prof Niek Grove, Registrar of the University of Pretoria. The second photo of aloes from the UP experimental farm is one of Angelique's that was incorporated to the UP Archives. Angelique has also been a regular photographer of FABI's social events during the past year and many of her pictures can be seen in several of the 2014 FABI online galleries.
Interested staff and students can already enrol for next year’s photographic workshop at the UPA. Just send an email expressing your interest to archives@up.ac.za
