Nimble fingers made light work of a day spent planting Eucalyptus cuttings at the FABI Nursery. The Tree Protection Cooperative Programme (TPCP) in FABI annually uses thousands of small trees for experiments and the rearing of biological control agents. These plants are supplied for a variety of research projects by the various member companies of the TPCP. It has become a tradition in FABI that all postgraduate students of the TPCP programme participate and help to get the cuttings planted into potting bags. On Wednesday last week 40 students and even some postdocs joined forces and within a couple of hours planted more than 2500 Eucalyptus cuttings. The exercise was led by Dr Wilhelm de Beer, who oversees activities and facilities at the FABI nursery and biocontrol centre.
