FABIans urged to bring cheer and warmth this winter by contributing to the FABI Blanket Drive 2016-03-08
As has become custom, FABIans will once again embark on the annual FABI Blanket Drive in the months leading up to winter. FABIans set the bar in 2015 when they donated 278 blankets to the TuksFM Woolly Winter campaign. Winter warmers collected in the campaign are donated to various organisations in Pretoria.
Prof. Noëlani van den Berg, the driving force behind FABI’s social responsibility campaigns, has urged FABIans to donate not only blankets but other winter essentials such as jerseys and jackets to the campaign. Whether old or new, blankets and clothes need to be clean and in good condition. FABIans can bring their donations to the reception area at FABI.
Last year the TuksFM Woolly Winter campaign collected and donated cash and goods – including food – worth more than R300,000 to the Student Nutrition and Progress Programme (SNAPP) and welfare organisations in the city. Organisations such as Child Welfare Tshwane, Boitumelo’s Children’s Home, Indaba Zosindiso Orphanage and Sunnyside Orphanage have benefitted from FABIans and the University of Pretoria’s generous donations in the past.
