On the afternoon of Monday 24^th October, the Chinese Society of Forestry (CSF) began its 4th Forest Science Forum. The meeting was opened by the President of the CSF, Prof. Zhao Shuchong. Prof. Mike Wingfield in his capacity as IUFRO President provided opening remarks, stated “the global demand for goods and services has increased significantly in the recent past and this will continue to grow.” He added that the sustainability of the world’s forests will depend increasingly on research. And in this regard, IUFRO will play an important role.
