Mkhululi Maphosa this week received the results of his MSc thesis examination. The external examiners were very complimentary and we look forward to celebrating with Mkhululi when he graduates in September. The supervisors for his MSc were Profs Brenda Wingfield and Emma Steenkamp, and the title of his thesis was Identification of unique genes in the genome of Fusarium circinatum and the development of a robust diagnostic technique using these sequences. He will be staying on in the TPCP/CTHB programme and the Department of Genetics to do his PhD.
