I have recently completed my undergraduate BSc degree in Biochemistry and Genetics at the University of Pretoria. In my undergraduate degree I was vastly exposed to plants, human and animal genetics and their biochemistry. Currently I am doing my BSc Hons in Bioinformatics under the supervision of Prof Zander Myburg and Dr. Nanette Christie. My research project is focused on implementing a bioinformatics pipeline based on Nanopore long-reads data to perform routine genome phasing and imputation in Macadamia parental genomes. This pipeline will facilitate the understanding of genome structure and function, as well as performing genetic dissection and molecular breeding in other diploid outbred organisms.
