I am currently completing my MSc in Genetics through the Department of Microbiology, Genetics and Biochemistry. I am part of the Hans Merensky Chair in Avocado Research, supervised by Professor Noëlani van den Berg and co-supervised by Dr Markus Wilken.

My MSc project is a continuation of my Honours project, in which the first steps were taken to characterise the complex nature of sexual reproduction in the avocado-infecting pathogen, Dematophora necatrix. My MSc research will further aid in understanding the sexual reproduction of D. necatrix, with the ultimate goal of protecting avocado farmers and the avocado industry as a whole.
