I completed my PhD in Molecular Biology in March 2023 at Stellenbosch University. My research focused on investigating host and pathogen biomarkers of bovine tuberculosis and nontuberculous mycobacterial infections in African buffaloes.

Hereafter I was a postdoctoral fellow with Prof Armanda Bastos at the Department of Zoology and Entomology, University of Pretoria, where I investigated the haemoparasite diversity in Ornithodoros soft ticks in Southern Africa. I further assembled the mitochondrial genome sequence of a blowfly species and investigated species diversity.

I have recently joined (February 2025) the FABI team as a postdoctoral fellow with Prof Irene Barnes and Prof Brett Hurley. My research will focus on the identification of the pathogens that is associated with various tree species in Ethiopia.
