I completed a BSc in Genetics with a dual major in Genetics and Zoology in 2024 at the University of Pretoria. I am currently pursuing my BScHons in Genetics under the supervision of Prof. Noelani van den Berg, Dr. Velushka Swart and Dr. Alicia Fick as part of the Hans Merensky Chair in Avocado Research. My honours project addresses the impact of transposable elements in proximity to defence related avocado genes on Phytophthora cinnamomi resistance.
