Twenty FABI post-graduate students and staff took the opportunity to visit the FABI Biocontrol facility on the UP experimental farm on Friday 19 August. The tour was organised by Andi Wilson to familiarise those FABIans that do not work at this facility or that work outside the biocontrol field, with the modern facilities and the scope of the research being conductedthere .

Facility manager, Prof. Wilhelm de Beer, together with Prof. Bernard Slippers outlined the history and importance of the facility for the South African Forestry Industry in their fight against insects pests. Dr Michelle Schroder, Katrin Fitza and Zandile Mngadi, took turns to show the group the various tree pests and their biocontrol agents being studied and produced at the centre.
