FABI was well represented at the annual symposium of the Genomics Research Institute (GRI) held at the University of Pretoria on 18 November. Four poster and eleven oral presentations, including the plenary lecture, were given by students and post-doctoral fellows associated with FABI. Students from the institute were also rewarded for their hard work at the prize-giving ceremony. Danielle Roodt won the best oral presentation category while Bianca Jardim won second prize for her poster. The diverse range of topics and high quality of presentations given on the day reflected the strive for excellence in science at the University of Pretoria.
